CHUMUR MONASTERY, a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located in a remote area of Ladakh in India, is the seat of the Venerable Chhoje Rinpoche, a reincarnated Tibetan Buddhist Lama and oracle. Founded in the 1940s by the previous Chhoje Rinpoche, the monastery provides a sacred space for the study and practice of the Buddha Dharma.
Through their diligent study and practice, the Chumur monks sustain the spiritual fabric and wellbeing of their community and also support world peace and the larger community of Buddhist practitioners. They also preserve the sacred Dharma ceremonies and practices for future generations.
Time, severe weather, and earthquakes are taking a heavy toll on the buildings and grounds of the monastery. The monastery urgently needs preservation and expansion to assure a secure home for the monks so that they can continue to benefit beings through their devotion and practice.
